Guides & Help

Everything for
the Organizer.

Format guides and app help — everything you need to run a great tournament.

Getting Started

How do I create a tournament?

Sign up for a free account, then hit "New Tournament" from your dashboard. Name your two teams, pick a format, and add your players. The whole setup takes about 5 minutes. Once created, you get a shareable link immediately.

Do I need an account to play or score?

Only the organizer needs an account. Players and scorers just open the link you send them — no sign up, no app download, no passwords.

How do I add players to my tournament?

From your tournament setup page, add players one by one and assign them to Team A or Team B. For formats like Best Ball or Scramble, you can set up custom matches from the setup screen.

What formats does LeaderboardLive support?

Four Ball (2-Man Best Ball), Scramble (2-Man), Alternate Shot, and Singles. You can mix formats across sessions in a multi-round tournament.

Can I run a multi-round tournament?

Yes. Two-round tournaments are always free. If your event runs 3+ rounds, the $40 unlock covers every round for that tournament — one payment, no per-round fees.

Scoring

How does scoring work?

For each hole, the scorer taps one button: Win (Team A wins the hole), Lose (Team B wins), or Tie (halved). Points tally automatically and the leaderboard updates live for everyone watching.

What is match play scoring?

Match play is hole-by-hole competition. Each hole is worth one point — you either win it, lose it, or halve it with a half-point each. The team with the most points at the end wins the match.

What is hole point scoring?

Every hole won by any match in any session adds to your team's running total. Whoever reaches the "Race To" target first — or has the most points when all matches close — wins the tournament.

What is dormie?

Dormie means one team leads by exactly as many holes as are remaining. The trailing team cannot win outright — the best they can do is tie. LeaderboardLive shows this status automatically on the scoring screen.

Can I edit scores after entering them?

Yes. From the hub, player-link holders can tap "Edit Scores" next to any completed match to correct a mistake. Nothing is locked until the tournament is officially closed.

Sharing & Access

What's the difference between a Player Link and Spectator Link?

Player Link gives full scoring access — anyone with it can score matches from their phone. Spectator Link shows the live leaderboard only, with scoring buttons hidden. Share the Player Link with your group, the Spectator Link with everyone else.

What is an access code?

An optional password you can add to your tournament. Anyone who opens the link will be prompted to enter the code before they can see the leaderboard. Great for keeping the board private to your group.

Can spectators follow along without scoring?

Yes. The Spectator Link shows a fully live leaderboard with real-time updates — every match, every hole result, and the overall standings.

Pricing

What's free?

Everything up to 2 rounds. Create a tournament, add players, run up to 2 full sessions, score live — all free, forever. No trial period, no credit card needed.

What does the $40 unlock get me?

Unlimited rounds for that tournament. Whether it's 3 sessions or 10, one payment covers the whole event. No subscription, no per-round fees.

Is the $40 per tournament or a subscription?

Per tournament. One time. Most groups run 2-round trips and never pay anything.

Troubleshooting

The leaderboard isn't updating live — what's wrong?

Live updates require an active internet connection on both the scorer's and viewer's device. Try refreshing the page — it will reconnect to the live feed automatically.

Someone entered the wrong score — how do I fix it?

Any player-link holder can fix scores at any time. From the hub, tap "Edit Scores" next to the match, navigate to the correct hole, and tap the right result. The change broadcasts live immediately.

I can't access the tournament — it's asking for a code.

The organizer set an access code on the tournament. Ask them for it. If you're the organizer and forgot it, check your account dashboard where you can view or reset it.
